Simply stunning, the way the walls are protected loved the work. They that tall to let you see views from high above but still they give you another perspective. Highly recommended if you’re visiting Chester.

A very nice way to get your bearings around the city centre with nice views and plenty information boards. There are a few short sections where there are renovations ongoing to preserve the walls and adjoining buildings so be aware . Exit points are never more than 500 metres away and often much closer. An immersive walk and an architectural treasure to rival Yorks similar wall. Please visit my youtube vhannel for some more shorts and videos of Chester from the walls. Search In Your Vicinity

The walls are among the best-preserved Roman walls in Britain. The walls were originally built around AD 70 by the Roman Empire as a military fortress, and over the centuries, they were expanded and reinforced through the medieval and modern periods. By the 18th century, as the need for defense declined, the walls were repurposed into a scenic walkway for the city, offering visitors a unique perspective on Chester’s historical landscape.

The walls surrounded the city are providing you views and history together. Beautiful views of the spectacular city and river side. It is approximately a 2 mile walk on uneven going up down that includes climbing stairs. Not good for anyone with mobility issues.

Living history. Walk in the footsteps of Romans, medieval knights and Kings. Royalists and Roundheads. Worth an extended visit.

Fantastic way to get a different perspective of this wonderful city. Reasonably accessible although I'm fortunate not to have any disabilities that affect me this way,so I'm no expert. It takes about 20 minutes to complete the walk, but don't rush it is worth spending at a lot longer enjoying the experience.

Great walk and definitely a good place to walk along to learn about the history of the Roman city from the vikings to the Saxons and Victorians and of course the period of time the city of Chester is well known for is the Romans where you can see a roman amphitheatre as well as stop off a good touring destination where you can have a tour by a roman and also get pictures with the Cheshire cat statue on the city walls down by the river Dee.

We completed the entire walk and would recommend it as a place to stop and take in the local history. So much to see along the way. If you have never taken this walk it is a definite must.
